Radiation effect on MHD free convection flow of stratified viscous fluid with heat and mass transfer
NAVIN KUMAR AGRAWAL,1 V. P. AGRAWAL1 and N. K. VARSHNEY2
Abstract :

The objective of this paper is to study the effect of Radiation on MHD free convection flow of stratified viscous fluid past a vertical porous plate with heat and mass transfer taking Visco-elastic and Darcy resistance terms into account and the constant permeability of the medium numerically and neglecting induced magnetic field in comparison to applied magnetic field. The velocity, temperature and concentration distributions are derived and discussed graphically. It is observed that
velocity increases with the increase in Gr (Grashof number), K (Permeability parameter) and N (Radiation parameter), but it decreases with the increase in M(Magnetic parameter).

Effect of Environmental Pollution on the Growth and Existence of Biological Populations and I-Function
VINOD KUMAR PRAJAPATI1 and S. S. SHRIVASTAVA2
Abstract :

The deleterious effect of environmental pollution on interacting biological populations depends upon the toxicity and the level of pollutant, the sort of damage it causes to the physiological and biochemical systems of the populations and their environment. To study this situation, in this paper, a mathematical model is presented by considering that the growth rate of species and the carrying capacity of its environment are directly affected by pollution and decrease as the concentration of the pollutant increases. After that a solution of this mathematical equation will also obtained with the help of I- function of two variables.

Fox’s H-Function and Persistence of Equilibrium States in Biological Systems
S. S. SHRIVASTAVA
Abstract :

In an attempt to give extensions of the results in the theory of special functions we derive a proper integral whose integrand contains Fox’s H-function having general argument and used it in finding out a solution of a non-linear differential equation
ut = Duxx + f(u)
related to a reaction-diffusion problems in biological models by means of linearization procedure.

Study of dielectric relaxation and dipole moment of some binary mixtures using microwave absorption data
AJAY KUMAR SINGH
Abstract :

The dipole moment and dielectric relaxation time of different concentration binary mixtures of 1-propanol and alkyl benzoates (Methyl Benzoate and Ethyl Benzoate) have been measured at microwave frequency 9.132 GHz at different temperatures. Thermo dynamical parameters like molar free energy of activation (F), molar enthalpy of activation (H) and molar entropy of activation (S) have been evaluated by considering the relaxation as the rate process.

Keyword : Dielectric relaxation, Relaxation time, Dipole moment, hydrogen-bonding, molar free energy of activation, molar enthalpy of activation.

Effect of Solar Influence on Geomagnetosphere
RUKMANI PRATAP SINGH1, R. S. GUPTA2 and AMBIKA SINGH3
Abstract :

An inter-comparison of the correlative analysis, we have taken daily value and yearly mean value of total interplanetary magnetic field B, solar wind speed (V), plasma electric field (V.B), sunspot number (Rz), geomagnetic index (Ap) and number of geomagnetic event (Ap 50 nT), for the solar cycle 22 to ascending phase of recent solar cycle 24 (Years1986 - October 2013), 238 number of geomagnetic event are identified and a correlative study has been preformed. It has been found that the positively correlated between total interplanetary magnetic field (B), solar wind velocity (V), plasma electric field (V.B) with geomagnetic index (AP 50). We found that the plasma electric field (V.B) is the most effective parameter for producing larger geomagnetic disturbances.

Nigeria Local Clay as an Alternative for Imported Bentonite as Drilling Mud in oil Sector
*LATEEF TAOFEEK A. and **AYODELE FOLASADE G.

Nigeria

Abstract :

Drilling mud is an important element of the drilling processes. Any drilling mud must possess common properties that facilitate safe and satisfactory completion of the well. However, the importation of bentonite is very expensive and the consumption is very high, there is need to further the research on the use of local clay as drilling mud. Clay samples were collected from three locations in Ekit-State, Nigeria. Atterberg limit (plastic, liquid and shrinkage limit) and pH of the samples were determined using laboratory approach and compared with the API standard. The liquid limit of the clay samples range between 28.0% and 50%, while the plastic limit range between 19.2% and 22.8% and the plasticity index ranges between 8.8% and 27.5%. The pH value of the clay samples range between 5.5 and 6.0. It decreases after addition of both Na2CO3 and KOH, ranges between 4.0 and 4.5. The pH value before and after enhancement did not meet the API specification for acceptable drilling mud of 9.0. However, the clay samples from Papa and Isan-Ekiti which consist of montmorillonite minerals can be used as bentonite if its pH is enhanced

Study of Temperature Dependent Electrical Conductivity and Dielectric Properties of PPY/SWCNT/PVA Composites
PRAGYESH AGRAWALa and PRIYANKA PARMAR*
Abstract :

The effect of temperature on the DC and AC electrical conductivities of pure PPy and PPy/SWCNT as well as PPy/SWCNT/PVA composites has been discussed in this paper. The activation energies for these materials have been calculated using Arrhenius equation. The values of activation energies for pure PPy, PPy/SWCNT and PPy/ SWCNT/PVA are found to be 1.83 eV, 3.166 eV and 6.6 eV, respectively. The increment of conductivity with temperature has been explained on the basis of reduction of energy band gap and hopping of charge carriers. PPy, PPy/SWCNT and PPy/SWCNT/PVA are found to exhibit larger dielectric constants than pure PVA. The enhanced dielectric constant of the composites has been correlated with the increase of molecular ordering due to addition of carbon nanotubes.

Usage of ICT by Technical Teachers in West Bengal Colleges
ARUP KUMAR BHATTACHARJEE1, SOUMEN MUKHERJEE2 and ANIRUDDHA BHADURI3
Abstract :

Technical education in the developing countries like India is experiencing a major transformation in last two decades. And this transition is highly credited to the developments in information and communication technologies (ICTs) in the country. The importance of ICT in technical education will continue to grow as every sector is moving rapidly into digital age. In this paper we have tried to present findings of using computers in different technical colleges by the teachers. We describe our work based on different age group and their use of computers based on purpose like educational, social networking etc. We also surveyed based on average number of hours to access the computers and access to internet.
